What are Stem cells?
Stem cells are the master cells of our body which can give rise to multiple tissue types . When a Stem Cell divides , each new cell has the potential to remain either a stem cell or become another type of cell with a special function.

What are dental pulp cells?
They are multipotent cells. Can form cells of different tissues e.g of muscle, bone, tooth, cartilage, nerve and pancreas among others.

What is dental stem cell banking?
It involves extracting the stem cells from the pulp tissue of extracted healthy teeth and storing for how many ever years as desired by the person who wants to store them. Typically, the milk teeth are considered ideal, but even healthy, non carious permanent teeth which are extracted for orthodontic treatment and wisdom teeth can be used to extract dental stem cells. Hence the age could vary from as young as 5 yrs to even 30 yrs of age or more if the wisdom tooth is impacted and can be removed from the bone completely intact .
